Frequently Asked Questions

Is financial support available?

  • Yes, through our Ipswich Youth Soccer Scholarship Program.  
  • IYS believes that the opportunity to be an Ipswich Soccer Player should be made available to all members of our community when possible. We are pleased to offer partial and full scholarships to our players on a need basis and when our funding allows. Scholarship applications are required and can be submitted any time prior to our annual start in the fall of each year. We will also accept scholarship applications throughout the year on an as-needed basis. Scholarship approvals by the IYS Board of Directors is required prior to participation.

What are the ECYSA Divisions and Groupings?

  • G4 teams shall be organized into two Divisions: Select and Regional. The Select Division is for highly skilled teams; the Regional Division is for evenly balanced, recreational teams.
  • G6 G8 teams shall be organized into four descending Divisions including MTOC-1,

    MTOC-2, County-1 and County-2.  The Massachusetts Tournament of Champions (MTOC) teams may qualify for and compete in a season-ending tournament that brings together age/gender group champions from participating town-based travel leagues from across the state.

Why are there registration deadlines?

  • For travel leagues, ECYSA requires town leagues to submit team and player information approximately two months before the start of each season.

How are practice schedules determined?

  • Practices are scheduled per coach and field availability.

Are uniforms required?

  • In-Town: game jerseys are available for purchase; these reversible jerseys can be used for your player’s entire in-town soccer experience.
  • Travel: kits are available for purchase.

What is the practice/game cancellation procedure?

  • In-Town
    • Practice: Coaches will communicate with teams.
    • Games/Clinic: IYS will send email communication by 7am on Saturday mornings; typically, there are no make-up games/clinics.
  • Travel
    • Practices: Coaches will communicate with teams.
    • Games: The league will send email communication by two hours before games; typically, make-up games are scheduled.
